Roleplay format?

What sort of interaction with the RP "gamemaster" are people looking for?

1. The GM plays a character, and controls the world as well.
2. The GM just controls the world, and the rp'ers are the main characters.

A. The gamemaster describes your changes in detail (John's voice cracked as his gasped aloud, startled to find his chest swelling rapidly before his eyes...etc etc).
B. The gamemaster states your change, and rp'er describes them out in detail (John begins to develop female breasts, which grow out to a 34B).

This is a great question, since I hope to start up a RP someplace else soon. As for me, 1 or 2 is fine, as long as the GM doesn't go OCD with his character being the most awsome of them all. Also, I prefer A, although B is fine if the GM doesn't want too.

I think as long as the GM (I'm used to DM, but ok) states ahead of time what his or her intent is, it's fine. If an effect is happening to me from the GM/DM, I don't mind if they describe it. I do hate it, though, when someone parrots my character.

In other words -
Good: <GM> "Illun's character grows pink sparkly wings that burst forth from his back, causing great pain."
Bad: <GM> "Illun's character grows pink sparkly wings because he likes the color pink. They burst forth from his back and he screams out in pain."

The problem with this, for those who don't get it, is that the GM isn't letting me play my character. The GM is deciding what my character likes and what my character's reaction will be. If I'm role playing, why would I want someone to do the playing for me?
